This is really just me letting off some pent up frustration with how the world works right now. I applied for several programming jobs on campus, and got an interview with 2 of them. My first interview, they emphasized how they were using AI to write their frontend stuff, and that I'd have to use it a lot too were I to take the job.
Now, I would really like a job. But that's not the job I thought I was preparing myself for 5 years ago! I want to actually think and solve problems, not babysit a robot. But everywhere I turn it pops up. Even the freaking linux kernel is using AI. Fortunately, in the second interview I lucked out, and they don't have any AI use expectations at all. Even better, I got that job. No response on the other, but I don't really care.
How long will I be able to find jobs like this? Not sure, but at least for now I'm safe.
Worst case scenario I can become an electrician. Honestly is probably a better job by most measurements.
